As Network Engagement Manager, Ruth works to continue to build and strengthen the vast Interise network. Before coming to Interise, Ruth spent years working at a local credit union, managing and optimizing members' banking experiences--especially via the credit union's digital offerings and platforms--on their way to financial success. Now she gets to turn that experience toward the national network of Interise participants and alumni, helping to fortify and engage the InteriseConnect online community as well as curate in-person events. Ruth has a B.A. in Mathematics from Winthrop University.
What do you care about?
Community and compassion are two of my core values--I really believe that our (humanity's) collective wellbeing is tied up in each other. I care about making the world better--more just, more accessible, more inclusive, kinder--for my neighbors. I care about fighting to reverse the systemic injustices woven into the fabric of American society.
Interise's mission inspires me. By helping minority-owned and low-income area small businesses flourish, we get to play a part not only in owners' individual successes, but in the flourishing of their communities, as well, and work toward closing the racial wealth gap. It aligns so beautifully with my own values and passions, and I'm honored to be here.
