“If I show my dedication not just on the business side but giving back to the community, that exposure lets the local community know I am here for the long term . . . I think that has helped the growth of my business.”BUSINESS OVERVIEW
Aloha Data Services was founded in 2001 by Ina Chang. The business fills a unique niche, converting paper to digital documents for other businesses. Indicative of the tremendous revenue growth the company had, the business expanded from two employees to seven. Because of her leadership, Ina was awarded the Young Professional of the Year Award in 2013 by the Pacific Edge Magazine.
Ina makes sure to give back to a community that provides so much for her business. There is never more than two or three degrees of separation on the islands, so word-of-mouth has proven to be the most effect marketing strategy. This requires Ina to maintain a strong referral network on the island.
Ina continues to give back, whether by sponsoring scholarships, helping with cultural events in her native Taiwanese community, or volunteering to teach Mandarin to children. Ina believes Hawaii has a bright future ahead of it, being strategically placed between the rest of the United States and China. She hopes to use all her business experience and experience in the community to realize this future.
