Alumni Spotlight: Jonathan Neves, CEO of Green Energy Mechanical
We take pride in highlighting the successes of our network. We understand the power of impact through real life stories and feel proud when our mission is met. We spoke with Interise alumni, Jonathan Neves, who shared a wonderful snippet of the Interise impact on his company and we want to share it.
At the beginning of 2020 Green Energy Mechanical was $180,000 in debt and revenue was down 50% in the first quarter. However, when COVID hit and everyone began to close shop, Neves decided to do the exact opposite. “When everyone zigs we zag” he said. Thus, Green Energy Mechanical started advertising for virtual in-home AC assessments which ended up being incredibly successful. “Now that everyone was home all the time, we figured more people were going to need AC and we wanted to fill the need,” said Neves. “We put everything on the table, and it worked.” By the end of 2020, the business reached $2.5 million in revenue with 14% net profits.
Since completing Interise’s StreetWise ‘MBA’ program in 2016, Green Energy Mechanical has:
- Increased its staff size from 6 full time employees to 26 full time employees.
- Increased revenue by 250% by the end of 2020
- The company has already reached $2.5 million in revenue and is expected to reach $5 million by the end of 2021 resulting in a 500% increase since taking the StreetWise MBA.
According to Neves, “In 2016 we thought we were going out of business. Interise was one of those last-ditch efforts and without it we can’t confidently say we would have survived.” To this day Green Energy mechanical still applies the growth plan structure learned at Interise.
